“Your energy introduces you before you even speak.”
This is one of our favourite quotes. And a great example of this quote is how you walk into a gym.
Imagine you walk into a gym and you just mind your own business. You don't connect with teammates, don't acknowledge them. You take 10 minutes to get your shoes on. You scroll through instagram for another 5 minutes. You finally get on court, you take a couple of casual shots, and then practice starts.
Now imagine you walk into a gym with a sense of urgency and hustle. You acknowledge your teammates, get some high-fives, get some fist bumps. You get your shoes on in 30 seconds. You don't check your phone. And for the next 10 minutes you get up game shots at game speed. By the time practice starts you’re already in a full sweat.
Think about which example makes it look like you have a passion for the game, a great work ethic, and a desire to be a great teammate? Think about which example helps prepare you physically and mentally for practice? Think about which example helps set a winning culture in your program?
Coaches notice everything and they will definitely notice the energy you bring the moment you walk into a gym!
